Elizabeth Wilson (died 2000)

Elizabeth Wilson was a founder member of the Working Party. She died in hospital after a fall. She attended early conferences at the Shap Wells Hotel and meetings of the Working Party, until she ceased to be a full time teacher. Elizabeth wrote pioneering chapters in the Shap Hinduism Book and Religion in the Multifaith School produced by the Yorkshire Committee for Community Relations, Bradford. At a time when many teachers and church people were hostile to the teaching of world religions, or uncertain about its propriety, especially to younger children, Elizabeth Wilson drew on world religions persuasively in her teaching. Our thoughts are with member of her family.
